AN INVITATION TO OPEN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

We would like to invite distance-learning students to join the Association of Art Historians. Becoming a student member can be particularly helpful because it provides a fairly isolated group of people with a sense of unity and support.

The ASSOCIATION OF ART HISTORIANS is a national organisation for professional art historians and for all who are studying or have an interest in the subject. AAH members are involved in all aspects of the visual arts including the history of art, architecture, design, applied arts, archaeology, photography, conservation, museology, film and media studies.
We have highly active Student Members’ Group, which arranges a wide range of events each year and circulates information of relevance to student members.

BENEFITS OF STUDENT MEMBERSHIP INCLUDE:

• The Student Fund – provides financial support to students doing voluntary work placements.
• Student Research-in-Progress One-Day Conferences - held 3 times a year around the country.
• Summer School - combines student research papers with sessions by leading art historians.
• The Student Session – offers students the opportunity to propose and present a paper at the Annual Conference
• Reduced subscription rates – for our journal Art History and magazine The Art Book.
• Subsidised attendance – at the AAH annual conference at University of Bristol on 31March-2 April 2005
• E-mail "grapevine" - alerts student members to news, research and funding opportunities in the discipline.
