The Byzantine Research Group at The Open University focuses on late and post-Byzantine art and culture and the cross-cultural interaction between Byzantine East and European West in the Mediterranean.
It is centred on the work of two academics – Dr Angeliki Lymberopoulou, Lecturer in Late and Post-Byzantine Art, and Dr Diana Newall, The Konstantinos Leventis Research Fellow in Post-Byzantine Art.
This Group is pioneering research into the fields of late and post-Byzantine culture in the UK and is the first University in Europe (outside Greece) to have a post entirely dedicated to the field of post-Byzantine studies.
