Rated the top 24 in the 2001 national Subject Review for its teaching, our department continues to renew its profile of taught modules. For instance, 2010 will see the start of the third-level culture module A330 Myth in the Greek and Roman worlds, and 2009 the second level Greek language and literature module A275 Reading classical Greek: language and literature.
So we regularly seek to expand our number of Associate Lecturers (ALs) to be tutors on our modules in all regions of the UK and less frequently in Western Europe. When vacancies are available they will be advertised on the Vacancies - Teaching with The Open University website.
The Department and Arts Faculty value ALs as vital members of the teaching staff, and offer them regular contact with the module teams and opportunities to attend departmental events at Walton Hall, as well as to receive support and training in their local regional centre (there are 13 in the UK). ALs get access to a wide range of online databases and other electronic publications and all the training required for successful OU teaching.
