The Department Aims

  • To promote the academic study of Greek and Roman civilisation.
  • To provide access to this study for everyone interested in pursuing Classical Studies at university level, through the provision of high quality academic materials and support systems, nationally and locally.
  • To provide the option of pursuing a planned programme in Classical Studies, both to Diploma level and within an interdisciplinary BA (Hons) Humanities degree.
  • To enhance the quality of the teaching provided through effective quality assurance mechanisms.
  • To promote research into Classical Studies and into developments in its teaching.
  • To disseminate results of this research, through the academic community, through the content and design of courses, and also to the general public.
