This paper will illustrate the main results of the research projects into Late Preshistory in Etruria carried out by the University of Milan in the last few years. In particular social and territorial trasformations during XII and XI c. B.C. (according to traditional chronology) will be taken into consideration: the settlements lying on small crags started to be abondoned from the X c. B.C. and the first Etruscan towns were founded. New data about this process have been acquired thanks to the long lasting excavations at the Final Bronze Age settlement of Sorgenti della Nova, excavations at the settlement of Sovana, ranging from Late Prehistory to Medieval period, and to territorial surveys.
