ICAR: a database for figured scenes in pre-Roman Italy.

This is a presentation of ICAR, a database of figured scenes in Etruscan and Italic art (IconographieArchéologie), carried out in a unit in the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) based at Nanterre University (ESPRI). Our goal is to assemble iconographic documentation (photographs, drawings, watercolours) and bibliographical data (publications and studies). The database consists of one record per scene, listing all the relevant information such as archaeological context, description, production, and interpretations. The resource will be published on the Internet. We have now completed our first corpus: the wall paintings of Etruria (540 scenes; 920 images; 300 analysed bibliographical references), and would like then to carry on with other materials (relief, vase-painting).
