Comparing pottery from settlement & burial sites

In the ancient world generally there is usually a distinction in the archaeological record between the kinds of pottery that get placed in tombs and pottery found in settlements. There are also often variations between the pottery from different types and sizes of settlement. What trends are visible in Etruria, and how do these develop over time? What fabrics seem destined almost solely for the tomb? What patterns are noticeable between pottery from urban and rural sites? How far is painted pottery absent from the latter? The paper will concentrate on southern Etruria, with particular reference to data from the Tuscania Survey.
