The Cyfarthfa Project: The Instruments of the Cyfarthfa Museum

This catalogue was prepared by Arnold Myers and Trevor Herbert and is provided here by kind permission of the curator of the Cyfarthfa Castle Museum.

The catalogue lists and describes the European musical instruments in the possession of the museum. Included are many instruments of the Cyfarthfa Band, but the collection also includes other instruments acquired by the museum in the twentieth century. Prefatory notes provide additional information about the collection and the method used for measuring and describing the instruments. The catalogue supports  other sources for the history of the Cyfarthfa Band and its performance practices.
