Adrian Poole

Adrian Poole began playing music while at school, initially studying classical piano. He later switched to guitar and bass and studied Jazz and Popular music at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London. After 7 years as a professional bass player and teacher he read Computer Science at London Guildhall University and Ethnomusicology at City University, London, taking electives in Cuban and Indian music.

Adrian has recently undertaken a PhD at the OU exploring various aspects of Cuban popular music. These include the manifestation of entrainment in Cuban rhythms, the relationship between music and dance, the learning and performance of ‘groove’ and the creation of feel and motion in performance.
