Facilities

The Experience and meaning in music performance project is based at the Music Department of the Open University. Our facilities for work both on campus and on location include the following:

  • Professional video cameras (HDV and DVCAM)
  • Multitrack audio recording using a portable ProTools-based system (up to 16 tracks)
  • Professional video sound mixers
  • Microphones by Sennheiser, AKG, Rode, Neuman and Shure
  • Video and audio editing and analysis workstations (using Avid, ProTools, Audition, The Observer, Interact, Praat and other programs)

All team members are provided with extensive technical training in using these facilities. From autumn 2008, the project will be based in a new purpose-built laboratory at our Milton Keynes campus.
