Updates

The Glastonbury Tales was made in 2001, since when a variety of changes have occurred in Glastonbury, and in relation to the people and places seen in the film. The situation in September 2009 is as follows:

Patrick Riley has retired. In September 2008, Rev David MacGeoch became vicar at St John's.  He was already familiar with the town, having worked in Glastonbury as a social worker for some years before his ordination.

Monk Jake has become Lama Jake, and has been transferred to the USA. The Buddha Maitreya Centre in Glastonbury is now closed but His Holiness still has a presence in Glastonbury, having moved to a new venue.

The Goddess Temple and Goddess Festival continue to flourish. In addition to the Goddess Temple premises we saw in the film, in 2008 a former church hall was also acquired by auction.  See the Goddess Temple website for further details

The town is now twinned with Lalibela in Ethiopia and Patmos, Greece where the Revelation of St John was reputedly written.
