Introduction

These books contain cuttings taken mainly from The Times and the Morning Herald, and their respective Sunday papers. There is the ocassional entry from a local paper such as the Chelmsford Chronicle. In some cases, the report from a senior officer of the relevant police station submitted to the Commissioner is also included.

Entries for 1829 and 1830 are contained in a single book, as are entries for 1835 and 1836; entries for other years are arranged as a single book per year.

Because of the size and quality of the typeface on newsprint, Zoomify™ is used to display the images; use the toolbar at the bottom of the picture to zoom-in/out and move about the image.
