Early Policing in Dorking 1838-1849
William Donaldson, who led a small police force in Dorking from 1838 to 1851, kept a log of their activities, known as the Occurrence Book. The volumes for the period 1838-1849 survived and Chris Atkins, a former Assistant Chief Constable in Surrey, has written a commentary on their contents.
