The Philosophers' Arms on BBC Radio 4 from 30 July 2013

The Open University is co-producing a new series of ‘The Philosophers’ Arms’. This is a series of four programmes in which philosophical problems are discussed in a pub. The programmes will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesdays at 3.30pm, from the 30th July. Matthew Sweet and his guests will be discussing justice on the 30th July, exploitation on the 6th August, free will on the 13th August, and Moral Blame on the 20th August. Concert to open London conference, 7 August 2013

The Word and Music Studies Ninth International Conference ‘Silence, Absence and Ellipsis in Words and Music’ will be held at Senate House, London, from 7-10 August. The conference is hosted by the Literature and Music Research Group of the Open University, in association with the Institute of Music Research and the Institute of English Studies. An opening concert of specially-composed works will be presented at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday 7 August in the Chancellor’s Hall. This concert is free and open to the public - see further details (PDF).
