The study of connections between music and literature has recently become a flourishing area of international research activity. The Open University’s Literature and Music Research Group aims to encourage wide-ranging interdisciplinary study of literature and music and to foster a research community in this area within and beyond the university.
Members of the Literature and Music Research Group have previously run two international conferences, resulting in the publication Phrase and Subject: Studies in Literature and Music. A further conference is planned, details of which can be found by following the conferences link. Literature and Music Research Group members are also engaged in Knowledge Transfer activity and events, such as opera projects and educational consultancy for opera companies.
