Open Day 18 June, 2005 This year we’re offering a varied programme of events for Open Day. You can attend lectures and talks, take part in discussions and debates, and talk to our staff about the Arts courses and research. Talks range from the historical importance of James Bond, to the challenges of writing about your birthplace, while discussions include the chance to exchange your views on the sanctity of life with one of our philosophers, and a debate about the authenticity of modern productions of Greek plays. We will be showcasing a range of course materials, and you can talk to our lecturers about them. You will also be able to visit the Open University Library where trained advisers can take you through your study options. An exhibition of Gujarati embroidery, courtesy of the Ferguson Centre for African and Asian Studies, will be on display in Arts Marquee 1 throughout the day. A Homeric travelling bard will be wandering around the Arts display area in the early afternoon, telling stories about Odysseus’s adventures.
