Additional Comments:

Dame Freya Madeline Stark, Mrs Perowne, (31 January 1893 – 9 May 1993) was a British explorer and travel writer. Attempting to cross the border from (British controlled) Iraq to Persia in 1934, she was obliged to spend several days in the empty guest house of the Vali of the Pusht-i-Kuh in Bedrah, Iraq. The 'Philosopher' was her travelling companion and attendant, Shah Riza.
