Looking at the
Renaissance
Artistic
identities
Artistic fame (or
notoriety!) is a commonplace in our modern culture. The names of artists or
architects are often familiar to the public because of the high-profile work
for which they have been responsible. The same principal applied in the
Renaissance. The preservation of an artist's name for posterity could depend on
the production of a particularly admired, high-profile work of art for which
the artist was lauded in his own day.
