Beyond the Frame: Indian British Connections

India Exhibition

Beyond the Frame toured an expanded twelve panel facsimile exhibition to seven cities in India in 2011-12.

Managed by the British Council in collaboration with The Open University and the British Library, this exhibition tour was launched at the British Council in Delhi on 25 November 2011. The display was hosted simultaneously by the National Archives of India in Delhi, where it launched on 29 November. The exhibition then moved to British Council libraries in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
The second phase of the exhibition launch at the British Council library in Mumbai, with further stops in Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai.

It will be on show at the following locations:

British Council, Mumbai: 13 February - 19 February

British Council, Pune: 17 February - 24 February

British Council, Hyderabad: 21 February - 28 February

British Council, Chennai: 27 February - 5 March

Members of the curatorial team have accompanied the exhibition and delivered talks, seminars, workshops and public lectures. The exhibition is complemented by the freely accessible British Library website, Asians in Britain, and the 'Making Britain' database hosted by The Open University.

The exhibition and project also featured prominently in an RCUK (India) event n Delhi in September 2012, ‘Jalsa: Celebrating UK-India Arts and Humanities research’ to mark the launch of the AHRC publication, ‘The UK and India: A partnership for research’ in which the project also features.
