Walton Hall Nature Trail, branched bur-reed

Branched bur-reed is a robust perennial growing to 1.5m tall. The leaves are strap shaped and are similar to those of the yellow flag Iris. The inflorescence is branched (hence Branched bur-reed) with the male flower clusters above the female. Plants grow along freshwater margins and in Milton Keynes can be found round ponds, lakes, river, and are also common along the canal.
