We will respond as promptly as possible to your request.  If your enquiry results in a booking, we may ask you to complete the booking details and technical support form.  If your lab activity is going to be run on your behalf by one of our resident experts, you will not be asked to complete this form, as they will complete it for you.

You may wish to check lab availability via the bookings calendar

If you lab activity requires room layout changes, we will arrange this via the porters.  We will also liaise with the IT and AV for any additional technical support required on your behalf.

Please use the following procedure for booking the labs:

New / regular user who requires IET support

  • Please email us your enquiry
  • We will contact you to check purpose and requirements. We will also discuss when you want to use the labs and arrange a briefing and tour (if you have not used them before)
  • We discuss with you how the labs can best be used to capture the data you need and will then ask you to complete the booking details and technical support requirement form
  • We will send you any booking information that is relevant 
  • If the support you require is part of the IET core services (Accessibility, Usability and Developmental testing) you will be given the name of the IET expert who will be supporting your request. If your requirements are not part of the core services, IET Executive will make a decision about how to support your request.
  • The IET expert supporting you will check lab availability on the calendar. You can also view the calendar online.
  • We will confirm your booking in the calendar if your planned use of the labs conforms to the terms and conditions, and contact you to confirm the booking
  • We will check your technical support requirements and liaise with you about the details
  • Please liaise with the IET expert support person to draw up and provide us with a schedule of your lab activity
  • If you need to change or amend the booking period or cancel the booking, please contact us as soon as possible.

New / regular self service user

  • Please email your enquiry

  • We will check your technical support requirements and liaise with you about the details
  • Please provide us with a schedule of your lab activity
  • If you need to change or amend the booking period or cancel the booking, please contact us as soon as possible.

Expert IET user

  • Please check the online calendar and book the dates you require
  • Please inform the Client Relations Officer and Lab Technicians of your booking via the booking details and technical support requirement form
  • Please liaise with the JLB Lab technical support personnel regarding your requirements
  • If you need to change or amend the booking period or cancel the booking please go ahead and remove it from the calendar and inform the Client Relations Officer via JLB-Lab-enquiries@open.ac.uk  as soon as possible.
