Nurseries

The Acorn at Mulberry Day Nursery and Pre-School is a purpose-built nursery on the Walton Hall campus. There are several other private nurseries in the Milton Keynes area.  Please contact the Families Information Service on 01908 253918, email childcare@milton-keynes.gov.uk for further information.

Facilities on Campus

Catering facilities at the Walton Hall campus and East campus provide a high standard of meals, snacks and drinks that combine healthy eating with a quality environment, to help staff and guests maintain a work-life balance. The Walton Hall campus also has a multi-faith prayer room for individuals or small groups to use, in their own time, for quiet prayer or reflection.

Free Car Parking

Free parking is available for our staff at the Walton Hall campus and East campus.  We also encourage our staff to apply to use our car share spaces, and we also provide disabled parking via dedicated parking bays.

Cycling to Work

Cycling and cycle commuting are recognised as great fun and a good way to keep fit and healthy.  In Milton Keynes there are miles of Redways that allow safe segregated routes to and from the University. For cyclists there are also dedicated parking areas available to use on the Milton Keynes campus. The University is also part of the national "Cycle to Work" scheme (explained within the Staff Benefits/Fitness Health and Wellbeing section) which is a government initiative that allows employees to obtain a brand new bike and safety equipment (tax free) for commuting purposes.

Bus Services to Campus

At Milton Keynes there are covered bus shelters located on the main road into the University in the centre of the campus.  There are also several public buses between the University and Milton Keynes Station (including a subsidised bus service).  Please refer to Milton Keynes Council's website for further information on bus routes and timetables.

Attractions and Facilities

The Milton Keynes campus has much green countryside in and around its vast grounds for staff to enjoy with the campus itself maintained by its own dedicated grounds team making the campus a green and pleasant place to be working.  The campus is also home to many historic buildings and has close access to the River Ouzel and Grand Union Canal as well as various lakes.  There are also many other attractions/facilities within the Milton Keynes and surrounding area (see trip advisor and other online resources for further information).

Please note that all these benefits relate to Open University vacancies and may not be offered by our partner organisations and subsidiaries. You should refer to their individual jobs for more information.
