The University’s Staff Payments Office operates five UK-based payrolls and a further two smaller payrolls outside the UK. Over 10,000 payments are made each month. In addition the office processes over 20,000 expense payments annually. There are a number of salary sacrifice schemes in place including for pension contributions and childcare vouchers.

The Deputy Payroll Manager manages the day to day operations of an office of ten staff. They provide support to the Staff Payments & Pensions Manager and has personal responsibility for the monthly payment and reconciliation of third party deductions, including those relating to Court Order. The role holder also provides support for the administration of the USS superannuation scheme and for managing the University’s PAYE Settlement Agreement.

You will have strong supervisory and interpersonal skills, extensive experience of working in a large payroll environment and ideally will have IPP membership. Knowledge of overseas based payrolls would be an advantage but is not essential as is experience of the Resourcelink payroll system and working with Excel.
