The role 

This is an exciting opportunity to use your strategy and planning skills in the development of the Open University’s strategy for the coming years.

The Head of Strategic Planning will play a key role in the development and review of the University’s Strategy, working closely with the Director of Strategy to co-ordinate strategic discussions with the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive and other stakeholders across the University.

The postholder is responsible to the Director of Strategy for co-ordinating a holistic approach to strategic planning, including the University’s business planning cycle, institutional performance reporting, risk management framework and effective engagement across the University.

You are expected to have good strategic awareness, develop a sound knowledge and appreciation of the University’s operations and build effective relationships with stakeholders across the institution. You will lead and manage a high-performing team of Senior Strategy Managers.

Skills and experience 

You will have:

• Experience of contributing to the development of strategy, preferably within a Higher Education context
• Ability to motivate, inspire and coach colleagues
• A track record as an effective collaborator with strong interpersonal skills, able to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups and individuals
• The ability to influence at all levels.
