The Role

As part of the External Engagement and Partnerships Team you will be responsible for ensuring the success of The Open University in Scotland’s work to support the upskilling and reskilling needs of individuals and employers across Scotland.

The Partnerships Officer (Projects) will play a key role in supporting our ambitions in relation to skills development, upskilling and reskilling across the length and breadth of the country. Working with a range of stakeholders, including SME employers and the Scottish Funding Council, you will project manage the OU’s Flexible Workforce Development Fund offering to business. Taking the lead on monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the FWDF initiative and other skills-focussed schemes you will ensure excellent stakeholder engagement and successful project delivery.

Skills and experience

You will have first class project management skills, the ability to communicate and build partnerships with a range of stakeholders, and a strong understanding of current policy and practice in higher education.  You will be skilled in writing for internal and external audiences, have attention to detail and excellent information and data analysis skills.  An understanding of the external policy environment in relation to skills development, the needs of individuals and employers (particularly SME businesses) and the role that higher education can play in growing Scotland’s economy would also be advantageous. 

You will be based in Edinburgh (subject to COVID-19 government restrictions) but will be required to travel throughout Scotland and periodically to The Open University’s campus in Milton Keynes).
