Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the Open University to work in the area of interfacial fluid mechanics. The position is funded through the EPSRC Grant ‘Droplets with dynamic size on smooth surfaces’, and concerns the theoretical/computational modelling of sessile droplets that have a time-dependent volume, and to understand how their dynamics is affected by smooth variations on the solid surface.

This project concerns the theoretical/computational modelling of sessile droplets that have a time-dependent volume, and to understand how their dynamics is affected by smooth variations on the solid surface.

You will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD in applied mathematics, physics, or a closely related field and have a strong foundation on general mathematical modelling and mathematical techniques (analytical and numerical), and experience of undertaking research in fluid mechanics, or a closely related area of soft condensed matter.
