Christina Lloyd
Role
The Acting Director, Students, is head of the University’s Student Services Unit. She is responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of services to students and associate lecturers in support of our teaching and widening participation objectives, as well as for the recruitment and retention of students. Key responsibilities include:
- the University’s relationships with its students
- information, advice and guidance to enquirers, students and their sponsors
- student support
- the management and development of Associate Lecturers
- assessment and award processes
- services to students with disabilities and other special requirements
- financial support to students
- student complaints and appeals
- student discipline.
Career
Christina Lloyd was appointed to the role of Director, Teaching and Learner Support in June 2003. Christina joined the OU in 1989 as a Senior Counsellor, then became the Deputy Regional Director for the Open University in the South (Oxford) in 1994. In October 2002 she took up the post of Regional Director for the Open University in the West Midlands in Birmingham.
Christina was the founding director for the Personalised Integrated Learning Support (PILS), Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), went on to contribute to Phase 1 of the Student Support review and currently Directs the Study Experience sub-programme for Integrated Learning and Learner Support (SPILLS).
