Dr Jenny Douglas, Faculty of Wellbeing, Education and Language Studies (WELS)

This presentation will give an overview of the recent history of the ‘De-colonising the Curriculum’ movement and its relevance for the Open University. While many attempts to ‘decolonise the curriculum’ have focused on the social sciences and humanities curriculum, this presentation will focus on why ‘decolonising the curriculum’ is important to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). It will draw on examples from reproductive justice and environmental science. The presentation will conclude with an overview of the Inclusive Curriculum Tool.

Registration

Each seminar will be recorded and followed by an (optional) online evening discussion on the first Thursday of each month where OU colleagues are invited to come together and discuss in more detail the issues raised in the previous week’s seminar.  To confirm your online attendance to the seminar and/or online discussion, please visit the registration page by Monday 26th October.

This seminar is open to OU staff.
