Researching your female ancestors: a seminar with the University Archivist

Finding your female ancestors can be a challenge. A woman’s maiden name disappeared from many records after she married, meaning we can end up with branches of our family tree full of our male ancestors’ names beside ‘married unknown’.

In the latest Women@OU lunchtime seminar, Ruth Cammies, University Archivist, will be using examples from her own family history research to show how these challenges can be overcome to reveal fascinating details about the women on your family tree.

Ruth will be introduced by the Women@OU Network champion Josie Fraser and will join us between 12:30 and 1:30pm on Tuesday 17 September in Michael Young Building (rooms 1&2). You can can also join in online, via Skype.

All OU staff are welcome. Please book your place via Eventbrite.
