The OU Access Centre has a network of 40+ highly trained assessors located throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, who are available to carry out assessments at home for some students who are unable to travel.
The OU Access Centre is also extremely proud of its Access Buses which enable the OU Access Centre to travel to those students who need it, as well as demonstrating the role of the OU Access Centre at a wide range of conferences and exhibitions. The Access Bus is a flagship for raising disability awareness in the community.

The OU Access Centre is situated within the Frank Henshaw building at the Open University’s East Campus in Milton Keynes. It has four fully accessible DSA assessment rooms, together with a team of caring and experienced staff. All the facilities are available on the ground floor and have DSA assessment rooms, disabled toilets and car parking which are easily accessible for those using wheelchairs.
The Centre contains an unrivalled range of specialist equipment, which can be demonstrated by our assessors, and can be used to ensure higher education is available to all.
The Open University has its headquarters at Walton Hall, in Milton Keynes which is midway between London and Birmingham, and Oxford and Cambridge. The OU is sited on the South East side of Milton Keynes. It is close to Junctions 13 and 14 of the M1.
From M1, Junction 14: Follow signs for Milton Keynes, taking A509 to first roundabout (Northfield roundabout). Take first left A5130 signposted to Woburn Sands for two miles. At next roundabout (Kingston roundabout) with BP garage on left, take third exit signposted A5/Aylesbury/Dunstable/Walnut Tree/Universities. Go straight over the next roundabout (Walnut Tree). At the following roundabout (Walton), take third exit, and at the following roundabout take third exit again. The first turning on the left takes you into the East Campus and the reception area is at the end of the drive. Please use the parking spaces marked “Reserved for the Access Centre”.
From M1, Junction 13: Follow signs for Milton Keynes, taking A421 for 3 1/2 miles to the Kingston roundabout. Take second exit onto Groveway (H9), signposted A5/Aylesbury/Dunstable/Walnut Tree/Universities. Go straight over the next roundabout (Walnut Tree). At the following roundabout (Walton), take third exit, and at the following roundabout take third exit again. The first turning on the left takes you into the East Campus and the reception area is at the end of the drive. Please use the parking spaces marked “Reserved for the Access Centre”. East Campus is next door to the Kents Hill Hilton Hotel.
The University is about four miles from Milton Keynes Central station, on the London (Euston) to Birmingham line. MK Central is an Intercity stop. Trains are frequent and the journey time from Euston varies between 35-60 minutes.
Students coming to the Access Centre for Assessments can park in one of the two designated spaces close to the reception area. You do not need to be an Orange/Blue badge holder to use these spaces. Please ask for a Parking Permit when you arrive and display it in your car windscreen.
