Location

The Access Centre is housed in the Frank Henshaw Building at the O U's campus in Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes has excellent road and rail links with all parts of the country. The Access Centre is a 10 minute taxi ride from Milton Keynes Central Railway Station (Euston/Birmingham main line) and only 5 minutes from Junction 13 on the M1.   • Two full-time needs assessors based at the Access Centre
  • A secretary/receptionist
  • Administrative staff
  • 40+ fully trained needs assessors and technology trainers across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They can do needs assessments and training at any convenient location - the student's home, their University, the O U Access Centre or using the Access Bus. Each assessor has their own transport, access to the equipment needed to carry out DSA assessments. All assessors have been vetted by the Criminal Records Bureau to 'Enhanced Level' suitable for working with disabled adults.

  • An extensive stock of ICT and assistive technology including desktop and laptop PCs, printers, scanners, CCTVs, posture aids, alternative keyboards, mouse alternatives, mind mapping software, text to speech systems, voice recognition software
  • An 'Access Bus' for outreach needs assessments - equipped with a wheelchair lift, ICT and all the main assistive technology equipment.
