Shelley plaque, Pisa -  photoThe Romantic Period Research Group was set up in early 2010. Members of the group publish in the field of late eighteenth century and romantic period culture. Particular interests include travel-writing and literary tourism; romantic women writers; slavery and slave-narratives; the romantic book; romanticism and material culture; Godwin and his circle; the radical 1790s thinker Henry Redhead Yorke; popular attitudes to the monarchy; late eighteenth-century portraiture; sentimentalism; Tobias Smollett; Scottish Enlightenment writing; and the relationship of philosophy and literature.
