On the CRSN executive committee, we’ve been thinking about more effective ways to communicate with members but also to disseminate what we do more widely. And so clearly, in addition to our website and our twitter feed @CRSN_UK, a blog is the way to go.
We’re not strangers to WordPress; we used it for an online seminar we did a few years back, on Tools for Classical Reception Studies. A huge challenge in our field is that we need to be aware of what’s happening in more than one academic discipline, so the seminar organisers asked people working in Art History, English Literature, History, History of Medicine, Media Studies, Music, Political Studies and Science Fiction to recommend books, journals, online resources and conferences in those fields. It seems to have been appreciated!
For this blog, we’re going to share with you what’s happening and help you think through issues currently in the news that are relevant to Classical Reception. We’ll start by asking some of the members of our executive committee to introduce themselves to you. If you’d like to contribute a blog post, then please contact Helen King (Helen.email@example.com) or Maria Wyke (firstname.lastname@example.org) – the co-convenors of the Network – in the first instance. Do you want to talk about teaching classical reception, or share your thoughts on key books or chapters in the field? Do you want to comment on a new production, film or exhibition, from anywhere in the world?
This could be fun!
