Welcome to the HEAT Programme Blog. HEAT stands for Health Education and Training and we are part of the OU Africa initiative.
‘Every person, in every village, everywhere should have access to a skilled, motivated and supported health worker’. (Former WHO Director-General J W Lee)
The Open University’s HEAT programme and its partners have been awarded $4 million by UNICEF to help train 31,000 rural community health workers in Ethiopia. In collaboration with partner institutions, the programme will tailor blended learning materials and deliver work-based learning to improve the skills, knowledge and retention of health professionsla. This blog will keep partners and participants up to date with what is happening on the HEAT programme.
