The Open University’s HEAT programme has the ambition of reaching 250,000 frontline healthcare workers in sub-Saharan Africa by 2016. In collaboration with partner institutions, HEAT will tailor blended learning materials and deliver work-based learning to improve the skills, knowledge and retention of health professionals, and launched in Ethiopia in 2011.
