The Information and Knowledge at Work (iKnow) project has recently seen the launch of its website, which offers a variety of free resources aimed at helping you to find and manage information effectively at work. The activities have been created in bite-sized chunks, so that you can fit them in whenever you have a few free minutes, at your desk or on the move.

The resources are also available to use in courses or to share with people you know.

iPhone application from the Van Gogh Museum

Yours Vincent, iPhone applicationEnjoy Van Gogh’s letters at home or on the move with the Van Gogh Museum’s first iPhone application: Yours, Vincent.

The application uses Vincent van Gogh’s letters to explore his life and times.  It features many of Van Gogh’s sketches and paintings from the Van Gogh Museum collection, video interviews with the museum’s letters experts and new picture galleries that showcase his art.

New trials in Literature, Music and Film & TV

  • African Writers Series
  • Early English Prose Fiction, 1500-1700
  • Eighteenth-Century Fiction
  • English Drama, 1280-1915
  • English Poetry, 2nd edition
  • Nineteenth-Century Fiction
  • The Bible in English
  • Twentieth Century Drama

In addition, we have a trial to the Paley Center Seminars which is a video collection of interviews with celebrities, TV crews and panels discussing the creative process, issues in production and the impact of the media in contemporary society.

You can access these trials via the A-Z list of databases with a password.  We would be grateful if you would give us your comments via the Database feedback form.

New subscription: Rock’s Backpages

Beatles photo from Rock's Backpages front pageWe now subscribe to Rock’s Backpages.  Rock’s Backpages is a searchable archive of reviews, interviews and features on artists from Aaliyah to ZZ Top, by rock writers and from influential music publications.

You can access Rock’s Backpages via the A-Z list of databases on the Library website.

Introduction to EndNote for Arts Research Students

Learn what Endnote is and why it is useful.
Gain experience of inputting references manually.
Gain experience of importing references from library databases.
Gain experience of creating bibliographies in Word.
Learn how to locate sources of EndNote help and support.

Courtauld Colour Slide Scheme Permanently Closed

Following its suspension earlier this year, the Courtauld Colour Slide Scheme has now been permanently closed.  The Witt and Conway Libraries and Photographic Survey collections are also undergoing changes and the libraries will be temporarily closed until 2 November 2009.
