Mathematics Education at the Open University

The Open University Mathematics Education team is part of the School of Maths and Statistics in the Open University.  A Centre for Mathematics Education  was established in 1983 and has had a profound influence on mathematics education in England, through the  research contributions of many of its members and the opportunities to develop as a teacher through distance-learning.

This is the blog of the current team: Cathy SmithCharlotte Webb and Vinay Kathotia.

The Open University currently offers three undergraduate modules in Mathematics Education:

ME620: Mathematical thinking in schools

ME321: Learning and doing geometry

ME322: Learning and doing algebra

We are also pleased to have a number of research students – please click here if you are interested in PhD/MPhil study.
