The Guardian Higher Education network hosts a live chat  on Friday 28th October on open access to coincide with Open Access week.

Open Access Week

Monday, October 24th, 2011

This week October 24 – 30 is Open Access Week, a global event to promote Open Access as a “new norm in scholarship and research”.  Institutional Repositories continue to play a key role in Open Access and ORO continues to perform excellently in comparison to like repositories in the UK.  We have over 19,000 items in ORO, over a third of which have full text attachments.  We have around 10,000 visits a week and over the last 6 months have had visitors from over 200 countries and territories.
ORO’s success is contingent on the continued deposit of research outputs.  Thank you for continuing to deposit your research into ORO and making the University’s research open.

These figures don’t include any analysis of the request a copy function – so I’ll be looking at that when I get some time.  Anyone have any comments on the request a  copy function of ORO – please let us know.  Thanks.
