Expertise: international forest and climate policy – his main area of interest for COP 15 is the proposed international scheme for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD) of which he is highly critical.

Dr David Humphreys is a specialist in international forest and climate policy in the Geography department at The Open University. His book Logjam: Deforestation and the Crisis of Global Governance won the International Studies Association’s 2008 Harold and Margaret Sprout Award for the best book on international environmental problems. He was the academic lead for the film ‘Climate Change in Bangladesh: Who Will Pay?’, the Open University’s award winning entry in the World Bank’s 2009 international documentary competition Vulnerability Exposed:The Social Dimensions of Climate Change: Climate Change in Bangladesh
