Firstly of course it is a mechanism to allow businesses to talk to each other. Nothing very new in that. There are plenty of forums both virtual and face-to-face where business folks can get together to discuss topics of common interest. And we hope that will happen with the Open University Business Network. But this Network offers more.
At each of our quarterly events, we give the opportunity for business managers to come along and hear some of the latest management thinking from our experts. Back in October we heard from Siv Vangen on the benefits and possible pitfalls of inter-organisational collaboration. Those who came along commented on how useful it was to hear these key points summarised so clearly. If you missed that event you can catch up with the key points on line now at http://www8.open.ac.uk/business-school/corporate/business-network/collaboration.
The next event is on 12 January 2012, details at http://www8.open.ac.uk/business-school/events/2012-01-12/open-university-business-school-breakfast-briefing.
Once again there is the chance to gain some insights from one of the OU’s experts on the latest thinking on a particular management topic. These are not random thoughts or abstract theories, but solid findings from research that has been carried out in the business world.
