Central Milton Keynes (CMK) Unlike most British cities Milton Keynes has purpose built inner city housing areas, mainly flats. Obviously, a very convenient place to live if you want easy access to the shopping centre – including branches of Iceland, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose and the market (not on Wednesdays and Sundays).
Living in CMK is very convenient for those who want easy access to theatre and cinemas, there are also some bars (e.g. Wetherspoons). All the clubs are within 20 minutes walk, as is Milton Keynes mainline station and the Xscape centre where you can ski and snowboard on real snow. There are two curry houses, a Chinese restaurant and loads of fast food during the day. Campbell Park is close and a nice place to take a frisbee or a kite on Sunday afternoon. CMK to the OU by bike takes 15-20 minutes, by car 15 minutes and walking takes an hour (not recommended). Buses to the OU are frequent during the day. Not surprisingly CMK is increasingly becoming a fashionable (and therefore expensive) place to live. A two-bedroom house in CMK varies from £500 to £800 or more per month
