Social Media Cafe
last week i got invited to attended the london social media cafe, or the tuttle club as it’s known, and on Friday i made my first visit.
so, who was there? well social media tarts basically – in fact the card of the founder Lloyd Davis states explicitly that! It was great to be in a room full of people working on the same sorts of thing as you, trying to find answers to the same problems as you, and where you don’t have to be embarrassed to say ‘oh, there’s a new site out that let’s you do that – i’ll send you an invite’.
i got to meet a load of cool people, i’m terrible with names, but i do remember Nancy Williams, Joanne Jacobs, Lloyd Davis of course, and Christian Payne (one important thing I learned was that the OU needs to get some dramatically cooler business cards!). Christian i’ve met before but it was good to catch up and go over stuff he’s doing, and it was reasuring to know that many people’s thinking about what is described as PR2.0 is the same as mine. It was also good to learn that a few people are also going to be in berlin for the web 2 expo that laura, tony (hopefully) and I will be at. Hopefully we can meet up for few of those famous low-alcohol german beverages.
tuttler happens every week which is a bit too much for me having to trek down from deepest darkest buckinghamshire, but god willing i’ll be able to make it down a couple of times a month. For the time being i’ve got a dedicated folder of feeds set up so i can keep up-to-date with fellow tuttler’s blogs. i still haven’t got around to moving this blog to my own hosting and moving to a drupal setup (have i mentioned that before?) – but once i do, i might chance my arm at setting up a planet tuttler in the image of liam’s planet OU.

Stuart, it was great to meet you, thanks for coming down.
Regardless of whether you get to tuttle again beforehand, it would also be good to meet up in Berlin in October.
If it helps, I have a discount code that you can use to register
Go here: https://en.oreilly.com/webexberlin2008/public/register
and enter webeu08gr43 in the Discount Code field
you may use the same code for as many of your colleagues as you wish. Of course, you might already have registered, or have no need to reduce the costs
Either way, we should look out for each other…

Great to meet you too, Stuart. Looking forward to seeing you over those famed croissants again soon…
Or perhaps over pretzels in Berlin?
Nancy
