Cluster-C CAMEL Meeting December 2-3rd 2010

We have just said goodbye to Catherine and Jill from Viewpoints, Catherine and Diane from PiP, and Peter Bullen our much-valued critical friend who all joined us for our 4th Cluster-C CAMEL meeting this week . Catherine and Jill from Ulster University joined us physically (despite the snow) and Catherine and Diane from Strathclyde via FlashMeeting which worked very well. The focus of the meeting was to explore overlaps of interest and then decide upon and scope a series of cluster outputs.

What I found interesting was the relative ease by which we were able to agree on shared aims and areas of interest which we summarised under the two headings of ‘what’ and ‘how’:

What: Changing culture – individual, team and institutional processes to improve learning design and therefore the experiences of students.

How

  • Promoting a shared Curriculum Design language
  • Providing frameworks for Curriculum Design (i.e. decision making frameworks)
  • Encouraging and supporting collaboration, reflection and dialogue Prompting ideas for Curriculum Design
  • Identifying, developing and using catalysts for change (i.e. approval processes)

We now have a number of options in the pot for further development and discussion, including some collaborative work with Cluster-B, an online conference, a joint paper/ conference presentation and a podcast series on curriculum design problems and solutions – so watch this space!
