Olympics at the OU
The Open University has launched a portal dedicated to the London 2012 Olympics with a range of interactives, free learning, blog posts and videos. ‘The First Olympics: Explore the Ancient Olympics and compare it with the modern games in a free unit from the Faculty of Arts, ‘The Ancient Olympics: Bridging past and present’.

History of the World – landmark series announced
The BBC, US Discovery Channel, and the Open University have announced the ambitious production of an eight part tv series History of the World. Advised by Arts Faculty academics, the scale of the project, which will be “the definitive account of human civilisation”, is something reflected in the reach of the Arts Faculty – our students are located around the world, and our subjects explore human culture and its history, from the ancient civilisations of ancient Greece and Rome through the Renaissance, to the art, history, literature, music and religions of the twenty-first century.
