The Robben Island ‘Bible’
The British Museum is displaying The Robben Island Bible, actually the illicit Complete Works of Shakespeare studied by the inmates over decades. The bible is discussed by Sonny Venkatrathnam, the original owner, and Greg Doran, the director of the ground-breaking production of Julius Caesar, set in a modern African republic, for which Dr Edmund King was academic consultant.
