DataPlus 1.11

An update to DataPlus to make it more stable, mainly bug fixes but the odd new feature too.

  • Users with fulldownload permission can see the usernames of users in csv downloads.
  • Imports now disregard user ids if the import is from a different domain (i.e. there is a risk a user might exist in this instance with the same id as one in the originating instance).
  • Bug that stopped new databases from being setup correctly, related to ampersands in URLs in some contexts, fixed.

    Hi,

I’m very much interested in your modul, I think this would make moodle much more usefull.

    But:

    1) I installed t he modul successfully, but how can I activiate the advanced functionalities? (I want to use related tables)
    2) Furthermore: View and single record does not work, I can not see stored data. But there are stored Data (I can export the database as a csv-file and have a look).

    Make I a mistake?

    Scincerly,

    Axel

    Hi Axel

    Thanks for trying DataPlus.

    1) This version of DataPlus doesn’t support relational databases, only a single table.

    2) If you’ve tried to edit the database directly, this might explain why view and single aren’t working, but if you want to zip the db and send it to me I would be pleased to take a look.

    Hi,
I have a Moodle site with heavy use of the databases with the use of the older database module. While it sort of works for smaller databases, it lacks relational capabilities. The Data Plus Advanced module specification describes something would like to use :-). I have some questions:
    – is there any plans to implement LatLOn field type from older database module? It is quite useful for all field data collections. We use it in almost every database and the lack of it blocks us from broader testing of your module and migrations of databases;
    – does the Data Plus 1.11 module store images directly in the database, or store them in a server folder?
    – is it possible to use some existing code to optimize images on the server side, e.g. ImageMagick?
    – can you assess when the Data Plus Advanced Module with all those relational goodies will be available :-)?
    – is there any possibility to help you in your work? From time to time we have some developer workhours available.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi Piotr

Thanks for your message and the interesting questions.

    – is there any plans to implement LatLOn field type from older database module?

There are no plans to do it from my end of things, but that doesn’t mean someone else could contribute if they were interested.

    – does the Data Plus 1.11 module store images directly in the database, or store them in a server folder?

    In a folder.

    – is it possible to use some existing code to optimize images on the server side, e.g. ImageMagick?
I am not familiar with ImageMagick, but again I don’t see why not. A quick glance at the ImageMagick site suggests we could provide the option to use where it is available.

    – can you assess when the Data Plus Advanced Module with all those relational goodies will be available 🙂 ?
There is no development in progress at the moment, only maintenance of the existing code. It depends on continued interest here and my own workload, I’m afraid.

    – is there any possibility to help you in your work? From time to time we have some developer workhours available.
Very much so, we’re happy to collaborate. I’m very happy for anyone to contribute parts of the spec or agreed additions they may want to make with us.
