GAAD 2018

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) is an international event that aims to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital (web, software, mobile, etc.) access/inclusion and people with different disabilities.

This year the event takes place on 17th May, and the OU will be taking part for the third year.

If you take part in the desktop activities or attend the face to face event, you will have the chance to win an Amazon voucher.

You can publicise GAAD on your website using an easy to integrate banner-widget.

Face to face events

12.30 – 2pm Informal accessibility meet up Library Atrium

The main event will be an informal accessibility meet up event in the Library Atrium between 12.30 – 2.00 on the theme of “accessible content creation”.  Staff from different areas of the OU will be on hand to share what they’ve been working on. There will also be guided sessions where you can try out assistive technologies.

Bring your lunch and we’ll provide coffee, tea, biscuits and cake.

12.30pm Student videos and discussion – Library Presentation Room

Join other staff to view videos of interviews with OU disabled students followed by a discussion of how best to support them.

If you are unable to attend the discussion, see Activity 4 below for the opportunity to view and comment on the videos.
