Tavistock Leicester Conference: collaborative leadership theme

Some places still left on one of the best intensive leadership conferences around – but this Thursday is the extended deadline, I understand from one of two co-directors, the legendary Mannie Sher. The Tavistock- Leicester Conference  (20th April-3rd May) offers opportunities for the study and understanding of questions that are vital to sustainable organisations and a sustainable society. You can expect the conference to help you in your leadership roles: in contributing to coalitions and partnerships; in managing the conflicts that sometimes occur within and between coalition groups and your learning how to collaborate in them. You will have opportunities to experience and study how authority is held and worked with in reference to its conscious and unconscious determinants.

I was Chairman of the Tavistock Institute between 2004 and 2007, and was myself a participant at the Leicester Conference in 2010. The theme this year is Coalition, Cooperation and Sustainable Society, and therefore builds on what I see is a growing interest in getting better at collaboration, my own research topic since 2008. It’s the 66th conference, so you will be part of a great tradition which every year is refreshed.
