Project updates
We heard this week that the scheduled Berrill presentations originally due on 13th Dec had to be postponed, and I recently had a meeting with some of the project faculty stakeholders and I will also be spending more time talking with regional colleagues.
With this in mind, there are a number of updates that are worth mentioning, and you can access the prompt slides for discussion if you like.
The first is that Offline Moodle had a very successful reception in the MoodleMoot conference, and as a result the work is being packaged so other institutions can look at and install the code for synchronisation – building on the backup and restore functionality.
Secondly, outsourcing of the Moodle iPodcast module is continuing, and I will be in contact with groups for small-scale trials from end-Feb 2008.
Thirdly, more updates are being made to two areas of advice/information – Podcasting and Windows Mobile 6 PDA emulation and related to this, the Library Digilab sessions were well attended at the recent m-libraries conference. Hopefully we’ll see more hands-on activities as a result.
Finally, for now, I’m trying to draw together our activities so we have a position on Mobile Learning within the OU for future planning – where user-generated content will play a larger part than just another ‘broadcast channel’ – watch this space…
