Atlantic Sounds featured in BBC audio slideshow

The work of the AHRC-funded project ‘Atlantic Sounds: Ships and Sailortowns’ is featured in a new audio slideshow on the BBC news website.

The piece was made at the Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival, during which the project held a colloquium at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall. Involving local cultural practitioners, policy makers and shanty singers, the event considered the role of music in maritime heritage, regeneration and tourism and the challenges and opportunities that music offers to maritime museums and heritage organisations. Details of the programme and speakers can be found here.
